Introducing Juggle Brain’s new learning folders:

“Phonics – Learn to read”

All of us learnt sounds of English alphabets when we were kids, but as we grew-up we became so accustomed to reading English literature that we don’t think of those sounds anymore, and it comes naturally to us.

But, how do you teach your kids how to read? Where do you start? Is there a scientific way of teaching them how to read?

This is where “Phonics” comes in. Phonics is a way of teaching reading where your child is taught to read letters or groups of letters by saying the sounds they represent. You would be pleasantly surprised to see that once your child learns these sounds they can then start to read words by blending the sounds together to make a word - it works just like Magic

There are many sounds in the English language. Each of the 26 letters in the alphabet has its own sound. This can be very different from the way it sounds in a word. e.g. think of the sound of “a” and then think of the sound of “a” in the word “Arrow”. They are different.

Ofcourse, Phonics is not simple! And that is why our “Phonics – Learn to read” folder deploys a unique child-tested and parent-approved technique of letting children learn through play with the help of popular objects they already know (e.g. Sun, Ant etc.).

“Phonics – Learn to read” learning folder is offered in two parts to ensure your child’s learning progression:

(a) Phonics: Learn to read (Part 1: Beginner)

Suggested age is 3.5 years onwards. As children learn at their own pace, so its advisable to consider their learning level, instead of their age when deciding which folder is suitable for them. Choose this folder if your child is just starting to learn reading.

(b) Phonics: Learn to read (Part 2: Advanced)

Choose this folder if your child can already read the following:

  • Sound of the underlined letters in these words: Sun, Ant, Net, Pin, Tap
  • Sound of underlined letters in these words: Cap, Key, Egg, Hat, Rat, Map, Dog
  • Sound of underlined letters in these words: Girl, Orange, bus, Log, Fox, Bag
  • Words such as: Sit, Cat
